The selectors’ collective eye was drawn to the remarkable creative and intellectual achievements in each jury nominated film. A film maker attains this level of recognition by demonstrating excellence in presenting an environmental story in a way that impacts on an audience, leaving them to reflect on and discuss the relevance of the work for themselves, our society and the earth. Nominated films have a mark of excellence in film making techniques, exhibit entertaining or dramatic qualities, and display originality and creativity in a way that will appeal to a diverse audience.

Our 2010 list contains a diverse spectrum of work - futuristic docu-drama, success and challenges in wildlife conservation, and new short and ultra-short film exhibiting the latest in advanced cinematography, story telling, and integrated animation. Stories of hope, stories that challenge, films that make you laugh and cry – they are all in Reel Earth's 2010 list of nominated films that will be posted here 26 April NZST.

You are invited to join us at the green carpet gala opening 22 May in Palmerston North to be with the film makers and see live the announcement of the winners in each category amidst the live performance by the internationally acclaimed, platinum selling band The Black Seeds.
