| Pete McGregor - Chair: Pete trained in ecology and entomology at Canterbury and Massey Universities before joining the DSIR as a scientist. He transferred to Landcare Research in 1992 when New Zealand science underwent major restructuring, and he eventually managed a team researching the applications of ecology in terrestrial systems, focusing particularly on ecology and control of possums and Tb and on biological control of weeds. In 2004, Pete left science to pursue other areas of life, particularly writing, photography and travel. He lives in the Pohangina valley and spends not enough time among mountains—particularly his back yard, the Ruahine Range. Annie Collins: Annie is a film editor from New Zealand, best known for her work on The Return of the King. She was a film conformer on The Fellowship of the Ring, and moved up to assistant editor on The Two Towers. Her work with Jamie Selkirk (as an "additional editor") helped earn The Return of the King an Oscar for Best Editing in 2004. Dr Terry Kelly: Terry is a Senior Lecturer at Massey in Natural Resource Management and have been at Massey since 1995. I’m also active in the ‘environmental community’, currently serving as chair of Environment Network Manawatu, and as treasurer (and past chair) of the Palmerston North City Environmental Trust. I enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, including cycling, mountain biking, tramping and fly fishing. Prof Vince Neall: Vince is Professor in Earth Science at Massey University, and chairs The School for the Environment. He has been involved in many research projects from Antarctica to the U.S.A, involving numerous activities in the Pacific Islands. He is currently a member of the Earth Sciences & Astronomy Panel for the Marsden Fund, and a member of the international program committee for the Millennium Science Initiative in Chile. In 1997 he was presented with the Taranaki Regional Council's Environmental Award, and a New Zealand Science & Technology Medal.
Gloria is currently involved in Nutrition Research interviewing for the University of Otago. Her previous partnership in sheep and beef farming led to her keen interest in environmental issues.Keen film viewer and enjoys creative pursuits. Dr Cockrem is an Associate Professor at Massey University. He teaches animal physiology, and his research includes a wide range of birds and other animals in New Zealand and overseas. He has been able to use his experience in biology and conservation when judging films in previous Reel Earth festivals. |
