Jury Panel - Short Films

Fleur Maseyk - Chair: 

Fleur is a plant ecologist initially training in plant ecology and conservation biology at University of Auckland, Fleur has worked in weed management for DoC in the magnificent northern kauri forests and with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation in the Indian Ocean. She is currently part of the science team at Horizons Regional Council. Fleur has a passion for wildlife and wild places, and is equally enthusiastic about good film and good stories


Jennifer Bush-Daumec:

A Wellington filmmaker who's been in the industry for 28 years and enjoys working with a diverse slate of documentary projects and teams.  Jennifer likes to use her talents and skills to inspire and affect others positively, to encourage communication between peoples and to celebrate cultural diversity. Her most recent feature documentary is "Po ki te Po / Night After Night / jede Nacht wieder" (2008) for Maori Television. "


Melissa Edmon:

Melissa is currently Programme Coordinator and Lecturer in Video at UCOL’s School of Photography, Arts and Design in Palmerston North. She received her B.F.A. in Film Studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.  Melissa’s previous films Gibtown and Living a Full House have received several awards and screenings in many film festivals including the prestigious San Francisco International Film Festival, Doctober and the South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas.  She is currently working on a Documentary/Mockumentary/Thriller tilted Forbidden Harvest.

 

Dr Jerome Lecointre:

Jerome specialises in the study of volcanoes. After completing his PhD from Blaise Pascal University (Clermont-Ferrand, France) with a doctoral thesis on Réunion Island and experimental calderas  he joined Massey University as a FRST Post-doctoral Fellow in 1993, working on old lahar sequences at Ruapehu.

I have an enduring passion for pictures since the acquisition of my first Russian SLR, and collect film cameras (both cine and still) as ‘working artefacts’ of a by-gone but fascinating technological era.. International cinéma is an essential part of my cultural diet.    

 

Malcolm Somerville:

Malcolm has a background in photo/av/motion picture markets with Kodak.  He has owned and operated Prime stock Limited last 15 years...mix of editorial photography, audiovisual and video production and now writes regularly for technology mags. Past president of NZIPP, currently on their Honours Board.. He is Chair of UCOL's BAVI (Applied Visual Imaging) Industry Stakeholders Council.
