Dawn Tuffery – Animator - Country of Origin: New Zealand

Dawn's creative capacity has flourished in the surrounds of Hamilton's artistic community at Waikato Institue of Technology (Wintec) where in 2003 she earned her Bachelor of Media Arts degree, majoring in Moving Image.

While there she discovered her passion for stop-motion animation, and her talent for it as well,
garnering a national award conferred by TV2 with her work. The Amazing Morphing Musical Glob’, a satirical stop-motion film about the music industry. After graduating, Dawn completed the animation 'Armageddon Redux' a collaboration with Keith Hill.

In 2007, Dawn completed her Bachelor of Media Arts (Honours) at WINTEC, during which time she completed her short animation 'Swing' now nominated for Best Animation in Reel Earth 2009.

'Swing' was inspired by a long coastal walk under severely eroded cliffs. Then came the perspiration, with endless workroom hours gobbled up in the making. The organic qualities of hand-made stop-motion were combined with digital compositing (the painted sky) to help create a slightly heightened, poignant narrative. The animation was shot in stills on a Canon 30D digital SLR camera and compiled in post-production at Wintec."I enjoyed the production process and look forward to doing more stop-motion", says Dawn.

In 2008, Dawn became the recipient of the inaugural Hamilton City Arts Council Artistic Development Grant.  She currently works part-time at Wintec's Media Arts department
and is developing several animation projects.
