Robyn Malcolm
| Hosting the opening night gala celebrations at Australasia’s leading nature and environment film festival is no mean feat; happily there is one in New Zealand superbly suited to the moment. In addition to her talents as an actress, Robyn is an increasingly credentialed spokesperson for social matters, nature and the environment. Compassion and the desire to make a difference have driven Robyn to work with the Office of the Children's Commissioner on campaigns against child poverty, abuse and neglect. A vocal campaigner for the environment, she also supports environmental causes such as Greenpeace, and the World Wildlife Fund, and is the ambassador for Right House, an energy efficiency housing company. On 22 May Robyn will bring her life of experience in film, television and theatre to the Regent Theatre stage, a magnificently restored film palace that is the heart of the Manawatu region. Robyn’s vivacious character and superb capability as a public speaker will weave this evening’s special elements into a rich tapestry including film awards presentations, live music sets from multi-platinum band The Black Seeds. |
