 | Palmerston North City Library The Palmerston North City Library is absolutely delighted to sponsor the Cinematography Award in the 2009 Reel Earth Festival. The term 'cinematography' in spite of the move from working with motion picture film emulsion to modern digital image processing, continues to be a form of story telling - one of the building blocks of a public library. The core purpose of the City Library is "to inspire people to explore the pathways to the world'. Those pathways are many and varied; the ubiquitous book, a piece of music, a work of art, conversation, or a film - short or long, black and white or in colour. The writer, the artist and the cinematographer are all cultural magicians intensely involved in the process of crafting cultural treasures, more often than not designed to broaden human perspectives.
