Reel Earth Environmental film festival presents the New Zealand premiere of Blood Lions, a controversial documentary feature film that blows the lid off claims made by the predator breeding and canned hunting industries. 8000 lions in about 200 private farms in the worst conditions imaginable, bred purely for the bullet. Tourists are duped into believing they are raising orphaned cubs only to discover they are part of the conservation con. Cub petting, pay and play, walking with lions are all part of the unscrupulous industry.
An after-film discussion will be held by Donalea Patman, an Australian expert, who spent 18 months working with Jason Wood MP to get the Australian ban on lion trophies and body parts, announced by then Environment Minister Greg Hunt in March 2015.
