Sustainable Development Goals

Reel Earth supports SDGs

Reel Earth Environmental Film Festival Supports the Sustainable Development Goals.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals that provide a common plan to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing our world.

Essentially the SDGs are a universal call to action to protect the planet, end poverty and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The SDGs were adopted in 2015 by governments around the world, including New Zealand.  The goals and their 169 targets are all interconnected. It is up to each country to adopt these goals in accordance with their own priorities and the environmental challenges.

Reel Earth aims to connect our community to the UN SDGs. Each Reel Earth film in 2018 brings a focus to a number of sustainable development challenges we all face, including: Responsible Consumption & Production; Climate Action; Life Below Water; Clean Water & Sanitation; Decent Work & Economic Growth; Zero Hunger; and Life on Land.
